Little Music Makers

Every Tuesday morning, we participate in the Little Music Makers with our children. The children love it, and every week become more confident with the words and actions of regular songs, as well as excited for new songs each session. Our instructor, Sonia, does wonders with our children, and they adore her.

The group is geared towards children from pre-crawlers all the way up to 5 years. Sonia adapts each session to meet the ages of the participants. In between the two sessions, the children are encouraged to play with different instruments on their own: xylophones, maracas, bells, cymbals, tambourines and shakers. It is noisy, but a fantastic time for everyone! And the Mums have a chance to chat among themselves, making new friends alongside their children.

Meeting with the Mayor

We had an exciting meeting last week, when the Mayor & Mayoress of Cambridge came to our monthly meeting. All of us were looking forward to it, and it turned out to be a great experience for everyone! The meeting was both fun and informative, and I think the guests of honour had almost as much fun as the children!

We had a lovely chat with Ian Nimmo-Smith, and his wife, Margaret, before the meeting started. Some of the Mums took the chance to have their photos taken with the Mayor, and a photographer from the Cambridge News came as well.

We were pleased to see the Mayor, and glad that he and his wife came to our group. We care about the children and families in our community and were greatly encouraged by his visit. He gave us a few ideas for fundraising opportunities, and Margaret shared her experiences as a New Mum in Cambridge. She spoke of the risk of isolation for New Mums, and especially New Mums who are new to the area. Their visit was a great boost for our group, and we all left feeling invigorated and ready to face the challenges of running children's programs in our area.
